cowpeas: don't just eat them. learn to grow them, too.

More about cowpeas

Cowpeas, also known as blackeye peas were domesticated in Africa more than 6,000 years ago. Today, they are grown and loved by people all over the world, but there's a downside: aphids also tend to love them. Researchers at UC Riverside have developed an aphid resistant cowpea that we wanted to test. Read on to learn how we went about it in 2023.  Want to know more? Scroll down to see the slideshow; start at the beginning. And because we believe you can learn as much from your "failures" as successes, here's a link to some lessons learned  from our  trial.
