We are Planet Earth Observatory (PEO) an ever-expanding grassroots, volunteer organisation with 501 (c)(3) status that encourages experiential learning for a healthy planet. We are students, teachers, urban gardeners, scientists, artists and makers who individually and collectively take our cues from nature to grow healthy food, heal the planet and heal ourselves.
We also take a wider view, advocating for regenerative and just agricultural principles, including support for small scale farmers who grow a diverse variety of crops, increase water use efficiency, reduce food losses and ensure sustainable management of our ecosystems.
Our Theory of Change (see chart, below) captures the roots of PEO while also drawing a clear logical pathway between where we are and where we want to go
We promote heat and drought tolerant crops with a story - foods that have deep culinary and cultural traditions for people who live in our communities, including daikon radish, fava beans and blackeyed peas.
