PARTNERING WITH STUDENTS, FARMERS AND NATURE TO GROW AND PROMOTE LONG BANS,  A HEAT AND DROUGHT TOLERANT CROP

Long beans are a delicious and nutritious food grown in Asia for 1,000 years. With the help of professional chefs, home gardeners, and cooks, we will collect long bean recipes and taste test them in several locations around Los Angeles.

The long beans we are choosing to grow are aphid-resistant, developed by Dr. Bao Lam Huynh and his team at UC Riverside. The seeds have been tested with Hmong farmers who grow long beans in Fresno. Aphid-resistant beans eliminate the need for pesticide and allow farmers to get a higher price because they are organically grown.

By supporting our long bean evaluation trial, you can help increase consumer demand for organically grown long beans. Help us promote more sustainable, regenerative practices in the way we grow food for ourselves and our neighbours.
